Annelie Harvey is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Anglia Ruskin University, specializing in the School of Psychology and Sport Science. Her research focuses on the psychology of justice, particularly reactions to victims of misfortune and the maintenance of the Belief in a Just World (BJW). She joined ARU in 2015 after completing her PhD at the University of Essex and is a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (CPsychol) since 2018.

Annelie’s work examines how people process undeserved suffering, including the role of religiosity in justice reasoning, selective exposure to just-world consistent information, and rejection of innocent victims as a mechanism to reinforce BJW. She has published extensively on speciesism (dog vs. pig victim perceptions), climate change psychology, and post-traumatic growth as ultimate justice reasoning.
Her research grants include funding from the Leverhulme Trust (£103,128) and ARU’s QR Fund (£1,330). Scientific awards include the PsyPAG International Conference Travel Award and multiple University of Essex prizes for academic excellence.
