معرفی
Prof. AnneMieke Boots is a Professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Groningen. Her research focuses on immunology and rheumatology, particularly immune aging and its role in diseases like giant cell arteritis (GCA) and polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR). She leads the Groningen GCA/PMR/SENEX cohort study and collaborates with institutions such as the RIVM and EU consortia like RELENT and VITAL. Previously, she worked at Organon and transitioned to academia in 2009 as an adjunct professor before becoming a full professor in 2011. She graduated in Life Sciences (1985) and earned her PhD from Utrecht University (1991).
- Education: PhD in Life Sciences (Utrecht University, 1991)
- Key Research Areas: Immune aging biomarkers, vascular inflammation, frailty prediction
- Collaborations: RIVM, EU RELENT, IMI-2 VITAL consortium
Research Highlights
Her work identifies biomarkers for disease prediction and recovery in GCA/PMR, studies booster vaccinations' impact on immunity in aging populations, and explores fibroblast roles in vasculitis. Recent studies include fibroblast subtype analysis in GCA arteries and fibroblast activation protein alpha expression patterns.
Awards & Grants
No awards explicitly listed, but her leadership in EU-funded projects highlights recognition in translational immunology.
Advising & Labs
Co-leads research with Dr. Liesbeth Brouwer on immune aging's role in vasculitis. Active in mentoring through the Groningen cohort studies but no named advisees listed.
Public Engagement
Contributed to public discussions on immunity and aging via media engagements (e.g., Telegraaf, Biocahier) and science advocacy initiatives like Immunowell.
