Anne Whitelaw is Professor of Art History and Provost/Vice-President Academic at Concordia University. Her research examines Canadian visual culture through institutional histories, exhibition practices, and settler-colonial frameworks.
Whitelaw investigates how museums construct national narratives through collecting and display, with particular attention to Indigenous representation and women's roles as collectors and volunteers. Her SSHRC-funded partnership explores global circulation of North American objects through colonial and post-colonial networks.
Publications analyze museum development in Western Canada, Inuit art circulation, and funding challenges in art publishing. Recent collaborative work examines object biographies in transnational contexts. As Provost, she leads academic planning across faculties.
