Anne W. Alexandrov

Anne W. Alexandrov is a Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing and serves as the U.T. Mobile Stroke Unit Chief Nurse Practitioner. She is internationally recognized as the leading nursing expert in acute stroke management with extensive expertise in emergency and critical care, particularly in neuroscience and vascular dynamics.

Education:

• Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (1993), with concentration in Emergency and Critical Care
• Ph.D. from Texas Woman's University (2002), focusing on integrated systemic and intracranial hemodynamics

Dr. Alexandrov is a clinical expert whose research focuses on stroke-reperfusion therapies, experimental blood flow augmentation strategies, and stroke center development. She developed the NET SMART (Neurovascular Education & Training Acute Stroke Management & Reperfusion Therapies) post-graduate fellowship training program in 2007, which has mentored over 100 advanced practice nurses internationally. Her work bridges clinical practice, education, and policy development in stroke care, with emphasis on evidence-based protocols and certification standards.

She currently serves on the TJC Stroke Performance Measure Panel and as Chair for Certification and Chief Certification Examination Architect for the NVRN and ANVP board certifications. As a founding member of the Association of Neurovascular Clinicians, she continues to shape professional standards in stroke care.

Dr. Alexandrov holds a U.S. patent for ultrasound-enhanced thrombolysis and perfusion, demonstrating her innovative approach to stroke treatment. Her work with the NQF Stroke Committee established evidence-based core measures for CMS pay-for-performance programs, significantly impacting stroke care quality metrics nationwide.
