Anne-Véronique Walter-Simonnet is an Assistant Professor (HDR) at the University of Franche-Comté, affiliated with the GEODE department in the Chrono-environment UMR 6249 CNRS/UFC. Her research focuses on paleoenvironments, tephrochronology, and geochemistry, with a particular emphasis on reconstructing climatic and anthropogenic impacts on natural environments. Key projects include the OdySéYeu initiative and studies of the Vosges Massif's glacial history.
Research Interests:
- Tephrochronological frameworks for Western Europe
- Sedimentological and geochemical analysis of lake, peat, and coastal records
- Environmental history of human-impacted landscapes
Articles Overview:
Recent publications explore Holocene sediment dynamics in northeastern France, tephra layer identification in volcanic regions, and the legacy of metallurgical pollution in the Vosges Mountains. Methodologically, her work integrates multidisciplinary approaches like geochemical analysis and palynology to address environmental change and human impact.
Labs/Teams: Active in GEODE and SOPAST research groups, focusing on geological and environmental studies in collaboration with institutions like the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS).
