Anne Sofie Børsch is a Postdoc at the Department of Public Health, Section of Health Services Research, and Centre for Medical Science and Technology Studies at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. Her research focuses on how health technologies and interventions translate into people's everyday practices and lived lives.
Trained as a sociologist specializing in qualitative research methods, Dr. Børsch is currently involved in two major research projects: one on early patient engagement in stem cell research (affiliated with the PREPARE research group and the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine), and another called 'Screened?' examining how video consultations reconfigure clinical practices across medical specialties including psychiatry, gynecology, neurology, and dermatology. Her previous research centered on supporting the mental health of newly arrived migrant adolescents in Danish schools, forming the basis of her 2022 PhD.
Her recent publications demonstrate expertise in video consultations, stem cell research, pandemic response, and migrant health, showing a clear trend toward understanding the social dimensions of healthcare technologies. Dr. Børsch's work often intersects with migration studies, mental health interventions, and digital health technologies, examining how innovations are implemented and experienced in real-world settings.
She has received media attention for her contributions to discussions about reception classes for refugee children and strategies to improve well-being among newly arrived young immigrants in Danish schools.
Dr. Børsch teaches Advanced Qualitative Methods in the Master's program in Public Health Sciences and has previously taught Qualitative Methods in the Bachelor's program.
