Anne Spry Rush is a Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Maryland, College Park, specializing in modern British imperial history, global interaction, and post-1945 migration patterns. Her research examines identity formation, cultural exchange, and societal structures within colonial and postcolonial contexts.
She teaches interdisciplinary courses including 'Lawlessness: From Pirates to Body-Snatchers', 'Empire! The British Imperial Experience', and 'Oral History and Immigration', which involves fieldwork interviewing immigrants in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
Rush has authored the monograph Bonds of Empire: West Indians and Britishness from Victoria to Decolonization (Oxford University Press, 2011) and co-authored the chapter 'Imperial Citizenship in a British World' in the Routledge Handbook of Global Citizenship Studies (2014). Since 2012, she has served on the board of the Association for Oral History in the Mid-Atlantic Region (OHMAR).
