معرفی
Professor Anne Roivainen is a Professor of Preclinical Imaging and Drug Research at the Turku PET Centre, University of Turku and Turku University Hospital. Her research group focuses on developing novel radiopharmaceuticals for PET imaging of inflammatory diseases across multiple organ systems.
Her primary research interests include:
- Development of radiopharmaceuticals for PET imaging
- Molecular imaging of inflammatory processes
- Vascular adhesion protein 1 (VAP-1) as a target for inflammation imaging
- Cardiovascular imaging techniques
- Applications in oncology, particularly glioblastoma
Professor Roivainen's recent publications (2025) demonstrate a strong research output across multiple domains including cardiovascular imaging, inflammation, obesity, and cancer. Her work shows a consistent focus on translating preclinical imaging findings to potential clinical applications, particularly in developing more specific markers for inflammation imaging beyond the current standard of 18F-FDG.
Professor Roivainen actively supervises graduate students, with at least one PhD candidate (Putri Andriana) scheduled to defend in July 2025. Her research group maintains strong connections between the University of Turku and Turku University Hospital, facilitating translational research from bench to bedside.
Her laboratory (Roivainen Group) operates within the Turku PET Centre, which provides state-of-the-art facilities for preclinical and clinical imaging research. The group follows a comprehensive development pipeline for PET radiopharmaceuticals, from initial concept through preclinical validation to potential clinical application.
