Dr. Anne Parfitt is a Research Fellow at the School of Education, Bath Spa University. Her work focuses on learning in non-conventional contexts, particularly vocational education and work-related learning. She holds a PhD in Social Policy from the University of Bath, an MSc in Social Policy (ESRC Scholarship), and an M.Ed in Lifelong Learning from The Open University.
Her research explores intersections of work, knowledge, and education across lifespans. Key areas include: initial teacher education, sociology of work, and ethical research methodologies for marginalized groups. She co-leads the Policy, Pedagogy and Practice research centre and supervises postgraduate researchers.
Recent work examines coastal community education challenges, pandemic impacts on disabled learners, and ethical research practices for people with profound disabilities. She has contributed to policy reports on Pupil Premium Plus funding and teacher training reforms in England.
Her publications analyze educator perspectives on youth aspirations, war-affected peace education in Ukraine, and vocational training systems. Current projects focus on peripheral coastal communities and inclusive research methodologies.
