Anne Mulhall is an Associate Professor in the School of English, Drama and Film at University College Dublin (UCD), where she plays a central role in teaching, research, and academic leadership. She co-directs the UCD Centre for Gender, Feminisms & Sexualities and coordinates the MA in Gender, Sexuality & Culture, reflecting her deep commitment to interdisciplinary gender and queer scholarship.

Her research interests are centered on feminist, gender, and queer cultural theory, with a strong focus on contemporary Irish writing, critical migration studies, and the intersections between literature and political activism. Her work critically engages with issues of whiteness, representation, and social justice in Irish Studies and beyond.
Her recent publications reveal a sustained engagement with themes such as queer temporality, fragile masculinity, migrant subjectivity, and maternal aesthetics. She frequently collaborates with scholars like Noreen Giffney and Marguérite Corporaal, and her work appears in leading journals such as Social Text, Irish University Review, and State Crime Journal. Her articles often explore the political dimensions of literature and cultural production, particularly in relation to activism and social transformation.
Anne Mulhall has been involved in several significant research projects, including the IVRLA project on Changing Ireland, the GENERATE Marie Curie RISE initiative, and the Women Writers in the New Ireland (WWINI) seed project. She has also secured funding for events such as the First Annual Conference of the Centre for Gender, Feminisms and Sexualities.
She teaches and coordinates a wide range of modules, including Critical Theory, Reading World Literature, Queer Frictions, Theory of Gender & Sexuality, and Dissertation (MA Gender), demonstrating her central role in shaping graduate and undergraduate education in gender and literary studies.
Mulhall is actively involved in research collectives and editorial projects, having co-edited special issues and books such as Irish Postmodernisms and Popular Culture and the Irish University Review special issue Queering the Issue. She also contributed to the MSI Journal, reflecting her engagement with migrant justice movements.
