Dr. Anne Mongiu is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in Colorectal Surgery. She co-chairs the Lower GI Tumor Board and co-directs the CRC Program. Her clinical expertise spans benign and malignant colorectal conditions, emphasizing minimally invasive techniques including robotic surgery. She completed her MD and PhD (Cell & Molecular Biology) at Northwestern University, followed by residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a fellowship at the University of Louisville.
Research Interests: Her work focuses on healthcare disparities, low anterior resection syndrome (LARS), patient advocacy, pelvic floor disorders, and quality of life post-surgery. She also explores topics like artificial intelligence in surgery, cost-effectiveness of surgical practices, and psychosocial factors in surgical outcomes.
Publications: Dr. Mongiu has published extensively on LARS prevention, AI in clinical practice, and cost analyses of surgical interventions. Her research often addresses translational applications of surgical outcomes data and healthcare policy implications.
Awards: She holds national recognition as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (FASCRS). She contributes to professional organizations like the American Medical Association and serves on committees such as the Status of Women in Medicine (SWIM) at Yale.
