Prof. Anne-Laura van Harmelen is a Professor of Brain, Safety, and Resilience at Leiden University, affiliated with the Institute of Education and Child Studies within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. She leads research at the Resilience Center Leiden, focusing on understanding how stress impacts youth mental health and identifying mechanisms of resilience. Her work bridges neuroscience and psychiatry, particularly examining brain structural correlates of suicidal ideation and behaviors in adolescents with mood disorders.
