Anne-Kathrin Kronberg is an Assistant Professor in Sociology and Organizational Science at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. She holds a Ph.D. from Emory University and previously served as a postdoctoral fellow at Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. Her research focuses on how organizations shape careers and outcomes like income, promotions, and employer changes, with a focus on gender and race disparities. She has published in journals such as Social Forces and Work and Occupations, and received funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Russell Sage Foundation Pipeline Grant.
Dr. Kronberg teaches courses on social inequality, organizational theory, and research methods at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Her recent work explores digital platform economies, particularly content creators on Twitch.tv. She has collaborated on projects analyzing homeschooling regulations and immigration policy impacts on marginalized groups.
Her research highlights the role of workplace policies in mitigating inequality, such as formal HR practices and identity-based career programs. She has also examined the alienating effects of surveillance technology in Amazon warehouses and its intersection with financial hardship.
