She is affiliated with the Transport and Mobilities research group and has made significant contributions to the field through her extensive publications and professional engagements.
Dr. Graham holds a BSc in Mathematics (first class), an MSc in Tourism, and a PhD in Air Transport and Tourism Management. Her academic journey began with a career in air transport consultancy before transitioning to academia where she has developed deep expertise in aviation and tourism systems.
Her primary research interests focus on airport economics, management and regulation, along with tourism and aviation demand analysis. Professor Graham has explored how airports function as economic engines, examining their relationships with airlines, the impact of regulatory frameworks, and their role in regional development. She has conducted extensive research on passenger behavior, particularly regarding aging travelers and the effects of events like the COVID-19 pandemic on air travel patterns.
The analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on contemporary challenges in aviation, including pandemic recovery, airport privatization, regional connectivity, and the evolving relationship between airports and their communities. Her work demonstrates consistent attention to both theoretical frameworks and practical applications in airport management and air transport policy.
Professor Graham serves on multiple prestigious editorial boards including the Journal of Air Transport Management, Research in Transportation Business and Management, Journal of Airport Management, Journal of Air Transport Studies, and Journal of Tourism Economics. She is also a Fellow of the Air Transport Research Society and the Higher Education Academy, reflecting her standing in both academic and professional communities.
As an educator, Professor Graham has supervised numerous research students from undergraduate through PhD level, including Mrs Sugandhi Jayaraman (researching digital transformation in airports), Miss Frances Kremarik (examining North Atlantic traffic patterns), Mr Robert Stewart (studying airport design evolution), and Mr Mehmet Nenem (completing PhD research). She has taught across undergraduate and postgraduate tourism and transport modules and contributed to the university's aviation short courses program.
Her professional activities extend to presenting at academic and industry conferences worldwide, contributing to major research projects, and providing expert insights on airport management and aviation policy through her extensive publication record that includes books, journal articles, and conference papers.
