Associate Professor Anne Fletcher is an immunology researcher at Monash University's Biomedicine Discovery Institute, leading the Stromal Immunology Laboratory. She holds positions as Associate Professor (Research) in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and is a Graduate Research Coordinator overseeing 150+ postgraduate students. Her work focuses on stromal cells' roles in immune regulation, particularly in lymphoid organs and tumors, aiming to develop therapeutic strategies targeting these cells in cancer and autoimmune diseases.
Education: PhD in Immunology from Monash University (2008), with postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Notable roles include Chair of the Monash Functional Genomics Platform and leadership in diversity initiatives. Awards include the NHMRC CJ Martin Fellowship and recognition as a Key Opinion Leader in Immunoncology.
Research Interests: Fibroblast-like stromal cells' functions in immune health/disease, tumor microenvironment modulation, and stromal cell-based therapies. Techniques used include RNA-Seq, mouse models, and live cell imaging.
Recent publications emphasize stromal cell suppression mechanisms, tumor immunity, and fibroblast heterogeneity. Her work bridges basic science and clinical translation, with projects funded by grants addressing colorectal cancer and immunotherapy advancements.
