Anne Elmies-Vestergren

Anne Elmies-Vestergren holds a dual role as a Research Fellow in the visual arts at the University of Agder's Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Visual Arts and Drama, and as Director of Studies for primary school teacher education programs (1-7 and 5-10) within the Department of Teacher Education. Her research focuses on integrating digital media into arts and crafts education, particularly in elementary schools, emphasizing creative and relational processes inspired by contemporary art.

Her PhD project explores how digital tools can serve as dynamic materials for exploration and community-building in classrooms. Key themes include process-oriented pedagogy, teacher roles in technology integration, and societal implications of digital media in education. Recent publications address topics like digital technology’s role in arts education and collaborative, experimental projects with first-grade students.

Research interests span art communication, sensual didactic design, and a/r/tography. She collaborates with schools to develop innovative teaching strategies and has contributed to interdisciplinary projects like BARNAS kunstmuseum. Her work advocates for schools to critically engage with digital media’s evolving role in shaping future educational practices.
