Dr. Anne K. Ellis is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at Queen’s University with a cross-appointment to the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences. She serves as Chair of the Division of Allergy & Immunology, Director of the Environmental Exposure Unit (EEU), and holds the James H. Day Chair in Allergic Diseases. Her research focuses on allergic rhinitis mechanisms, clinical trials, and the developmental origins of allergy through initiatives like the Kingston Allergy Birth Cohort.
Education includes an MD from Queen’s University (1999), MSc in Immunology from McMaster University (2008), and Fellowships in Internal Medicine and Allergy/Immunology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (2004–2006).
Research interests span nasal microbiome studies, anaphylaxis management, and translational medicine. Her lab integrates clinical and basic science training, with trainees observing allergy clinics and participating in clinical trials using the EEU, a gold-standard allergen challenge facility.
Key awards include the 2016–17 Mihran and Mary Basmajian Award for Biomedical Research. Current projects include the Allergic Rhinitis Microbiome Study (ARMS) and studies on filaggrin mutations in peanut allergy pathways.
