Dr. Anne E. Kwitek is a tenured Professor in the Department of Physiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Her research focuses on the genetics of complex diseases such as hypertension, obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. She leads the Rat Genome Database (RGD), part of the Alliance of Genome Resources, which provides integrated genetic and genomic data for translational research.
Education: BS in Biology and Chemistry from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point; PhD in Genetics from University of Iowa. Previously served as Associate Professor at MCW before returning in 2019 after a tenure at University of Iowa.
Research Interests: Genetic susceptibility to cardiometabolic diseases, genomic-environmental interactions, and rat/human model systems. Integrates 'omics approaches to identify disease mechanisms. Active in curating genomic databases for cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases.
