Anne Dippel is a Professor of Administration for the Professorship of Knowledge Cultures in the Digital Age at the Institute for Design Research, Braunschweig University of Fine Arts (HBK Braunschweig). She holds a habilitation in Cultural Anthropology and is a Research Associate and Private Lecturer at Friedrich Schiller University Jena's Seminar for Cultural Anthropology. Her academic journey includes a Dr. phil. from Humboldt University Berlin and a Magistra Artium from Humboldt University Berlin as well.
Her research spans design anthropology, digital cultures, new materialism, and posthumanism, with a focus on ethnographic studies of scientific institutions like CERN and MIT. She has led projects such as 'Fiction Science: A Fantastic Ethnography of CERN' and co-founded initiatives like the Kula Games Collective to bridge anthropology and playful knowledge dissemination.
Notable awards include the Lehrpreis (2016) for innovative teaching and recognition for projects like 'Greeta' (winner of the Potsdam Media Innovation Award). Her work often explores intersections of technology, ethics, and cultural narratives, with recent emphases on climate justice and planetary health.
She has organized conferences, workshops, and exhibitions, including 'Wir wohnen Wort an Wort' in Southeast Europe and 'Werkstatt: Jenaer Anmerkungen zur Alltagskultur'. Currently, she contributes to the DFG-funded EthnOA initiative promoting Open Access in ethnological fields.
