Anna Tuschling

Anna Tuschling is a researcher at the Institute for Media Studies at the University of Basel, where she has been working since October 2006 under Ordinariat Georg Christoph Tholen. She is also associated with THE THING Hamburg, part of an international network including locations in Vienna, Frankfurt, New York, Berlin, Rome, and Amsterdam.

Her educational background includes studies in Germanistics, Psychology, and Media Science across multiple universities including Marburg, Trier, Bremen, and Basel. She completed her Diplom in Psychology at the University of Bremen in 2003 and served as a Visiting Scholar at New York University's German Department in 2006 with Professor Avital Ronell.

Dr. Tuschling earned her PhD from the University of Basel in November 2006 with a dissertation titled "Klatsch im Chat. Freuds Theorie des Dritten im Zeitalter elektronischer Kommunikation" (Gossip in Chat: Freud's Theory of the Third in the Age of Electronic Communication), scheduled for publication in 2008 by transcript Verlag. She is currently working on her habilitation focusing on "Angstapparate" (Fear Apparatuses), which examines anxiety mechanisms in technological contexts.
