Anne-Claire Faucquez

Anne-Claire Faucquez is a Lecturer in American History and Civilization at Paris 8 University, where she also serves as Head of the MEEF 2nd Degree Master's in English and Deputy Director of the Language Center's 'English Pole'. She is a member of the UR 'Transcribed' research unit, focusing on the 'Imagining Communities' axis.

Her research explores Colonial America, with a focus on slavery and forced labor systems, the history of New York City, and memory and museum studies. She examines how colonial societies in America developed slavery structures and analyzes modern public narratives of slavery in monuments and museums.

Her recent publications address transatlantic slavery dynamics, colonial power struggles, and comparative studies of Charleston and New York. She teaches courses on American civilization at the Master's level and contributes to academic discussions on historical representation and memory politics.
