Androula Michael is a Professor, Head of International Relations, and Director of the Centre for Research in Arts and Aesthetics (CRÆ, UR 4291) at the University of Picardie Jules Verne. She is also a member of AICA and an independent curator, specializing in interdisciplinary research connecting art history, aesthetics, and postcolonial discourse.
Her research focuses on underexplored aspects of Pablo Picasso's work, the critical reception of Picasso and Marcel Duchamp, and de/postcolonial issues in the arts. She contributes to the MCTM research group (Mondes Caraibes et Transatlantiques en Mouvement), the "Erasing Memory in Art" program, and the "Issues and Objects of Representations of Colonial Slavery" project, collaborating with Anne-Claire Faucquez and Renée Gosson.
Michael has co-curated major exhibitions on Picasso, including La cuisine de Picasso (2018), Picasso at the Cyprus Museum (2019), and Returns to Africa (2019). She co-founded the "Picasso Doctorate" initiative and coordinates the European project "Open up" (2019–2022), promoting cultural collaboration.
