Anne C. Dailey holds the Evangeline Starr Professor of Law position at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she has served since 1990. Concurrently, she is the Sidley Austin-Robert D. McLean Visiting Professor of Law at Yale Law School during spring terms. She serves as Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Intellectual Life at UConn Law, a role she has held intermittently since 2007. Previously, she served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (2008–2010) and Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development.
Her expertise lies in family law, children and the law, and law and psychology, with a particular focus on psychoanalytic perspectives. Dailey’s scholarship includes the award-winning book *Law and the Unconscious* (Yale UP, 2017), which has earned multiple academic prizes. She has held visiting appointments at Harvard Law School (2021), Yale Law School (2009, 2016), and the University of Pennsylvania Law School (1995).
Her research explores intersections between legal systems and human psychology, with recent publications addressing child rights frameworks and parental obligations. She has been a research fellow at the Western New England Institute for Psychoanalysis since 2009 and participated in residency programs at the Austen Riggs Center and the Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies. Dailey is a member of the American Law Institute and advises the Restatement of the Law of Children.
Her awards reflect interdisciplinary recognition, including the 2018 Courage to Dream Book Prize and Sharon Harris Book Award. Professional service includes judicial clerkships and academic leadership roles.
