Annabel Kim is a Professor and Department Chair of Romance Languages and Literatures (French Section) at Harvard University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. She holds a B.A. in French and Art History from Williams College (2007) and a Ph.D. in French from Yale University (2014). Her research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century French literature, feminist theory, and the ethical/political dimensions of fiction. She is particularly known for analyzing anti-identitarian feminist fictions and the excremental canon in French literature.
Kim's work critiques autofiction/exofiction trends and explores themes like queer ecologies, posthumanism, and corporeal politics. She teaches courses such as 'Growing Pains: The Coming-of-Age Novel' and 'The Bad Place: Dystopia à la Française.' Her books include Unbecoming Language (2018) and Cacaphonies (2022). She advises doctoral students in contemporary French literature and feminist thought.
