Anna W. Hickey

Anna W. Hickey serves as Dean of the Luter School of Business and Professor of Accounting and Finance at Christopher Newport University. Prior to joining CNU, she retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 28 years of service, attaining the rank of Captain. During her military career, she held academic leadership roles at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy including Management Department Head of an AACSB accredited program, inaugural Dean of the School of Leadership and Management, and Vice Provost for Academic Administration.

Her educational background includes:

• Ph.D. in Accounting from West Virginia University
• MBA in Business Administration (Finance Concentration) from Florida Atlantic University
• BS in Management from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy

Dr. Hickey's scholarly expertise centers on accounting disciplines with emphasis on government and federal applications. She has taught comprehensive coursework spanning financial accounting, managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, cost accounting, and federal budgeting. Her professional engagement includes membership in the Association of Government Accountants and prior service as a reviewer for the Journal of Accounting Education, reflecting her commitment to advancing accounting education and practice.
