Anna Schmitz serves as a Part-Time Lecturer at Mercer University's School of Music while teaching elementary music at Matt Arthur Elementary School and maintaining a private horn studio for middle and high school students. Her studio consistently produces students selected for honor bands, All-State ensembles, and national awards, with several pursuing music degrees at the collegiate level.
Her educational background includes:
- Master of Education in Music Education from Georgia College & State University (2024)
- Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Southwestern College Kansas (2013)
- Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Northern Iowa (2001)
Specializing in music education and horn performance, Ms. Schmitz focuses on developing technical proficiency and ensemble skills in K-12 students through both classroom instruction and private lessons. Her expertise bridges elementary music curriculum delivery and advanced horn pedagogy for secondary students.
As an active performer, she has collaborated with the Macon Symphony, South Kansas Symphony, Waterloo Symphony, Northwind Quintet, and most recently with Sarah Brightman's orchestra in Atlanta.
Her mentorship extends beyond institutional settings through her private studio, where she prepares students for competitive auditions and fosters pathways into professional music careers, evidenced by alumni successes in collegiate music programs.
