Anna Markina is a Research Fellow of Criminology at the University of Tartu's School of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences. She holds a Research Master's Degree in Society and Politics and has extensive experience in academic and administrative roles, including serving as a lecturer and researcher in legal sociology and criminology. Her career spans over three decades, with notable roles at institutions like the Estonian Public Service Academy and North Carolina State University. She has been the Estonian academic contact point for the EU Crime Prevention Network since 2004.

Collaborative projects include studies on cervical cancer screening stakeholder views, human trafficking policy diffusion, and the implementation of EU victims' rights directives.
