Dr Anna Mackie is a Research Fellow at the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences, University of St Andrews. Her research focuses on understanding interactions between atmospheric circulation and clouds in the tropics, particularly using high-resolution climate models that explicitly resolve cloud processes. She investigates how tropical sea surface temperature (SST) patterns influence atmospheric dynamics and cloud feedback mechanisms. Her work contributes to improving climate model accuracy and understanding regional climate variability over West Africa and the Sahel.
Key research areas include tropical meteorology, ocean-atmosphere interaction, and climate modeling. She has published extensively on topics such as SST warming impacts, radiative flux variability, and model behavior validation. Mackie’s research aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and environmental sustainability.
Her collaborative projects include contributions to the Climate Dynamics Lab and open-source code development for climate simulations. She has no listed awards but demonstrates active engagement in peer-reviewed journals and interdisciplinary research.
