Anna Lasorella is a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Miami, where she serves as Director of the Precision Medicine Initiative. She earned her MD in 1982 from Catholic University School of Medicine in Rome, Italy, followed by residencies in hematology and pediatrics, and postgraduate training in neuro-oncology.
Research Interests: Her work investigates the relationship between stem/progenitor cells and cancer stem cells in the nervous system, focusing on the role of ID proteins in glioblastoma development. She pioneers high-throughput genomic technologies to identify actionable lesions and develops personalized cancer therapeutics through transdisciplinary approaches combining data science and computational pharmacology.
Scientific Awards:
- Scientific Accomplishment Award, Malnati Brain Tumor Institute
- Summa Cum Laude distinctions from Catholic University School of Medicine in Pediatrics, Hematology, and overall academic achievement
Publications: Recent work includes groundbreaking studies on glioblastoma ecosystems using single-cell genomics, genetic evolution in brain tumors, and spatial reconstruction of tumor-microenvironment interactions (2024-2025). Her research has secured federal funding and translated into clinical trials for FGFR-TACC positive glioblastoma.
