Anna Korol is an Assistant Professor in the Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences department at McMaster University, affiliated with the Michael G. DeGroote Initiative for Innovation in Healthcare. Her research focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms in ophthalmology, particularly TGFβ signaling pathways, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and lens biology.
Her work investigates disease mechanisms in ocular pathologies like cataracts, using molecular biology and cellular models to explore cytoskeletal dynamics, matrix metalloproteinases, and transcriptional regulation in lens development and fibrosis.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on signaling pathways (TGFβ/RhoA/ROCK), EMT regulation, and extracellular matrix remodeling in lens epithelial cells, with consistent application of genetic, biochemical, and explant-based methodologies.
