Dr. Anna Khlusova is a Lecturer in Culture, Media and Creative Industries (Global Media) at King’s College London, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. She holds an MA and PhD in Social, Cultural and Media Studies from King’s College London, where her PhD thesis won the Elsevier Outstanding PhD Thesis Prize (2020).
Her research focuses on gender and LGBTQ politics in Russia, cultural and sexual citizenship, media and migration, transnational activism, and digital public engagement. She leads projects such as Kneading Knowledge, exploring migration through online cookery classes with Migrateful, and studies digital methods for public engagement in the arts. Recent work includes examining LGBTQ activism in Russia under the ‘Foreign Agent Law’ and vulnerability in academic research.
Anna teaches global media, gender studies, feminist media, and research methodologies. She has organized events like the (In)visible Queerness seminar for LGBT History Month and co-led workshops on vulnerability in research. Her collaborative projects bridge academia with cultural institutions, emphasizing participatory research and societal impact.
