Anna Ingeborg Gudmundson is an Associate Professor of Italian within the field of second language acquisition at the Department of Romance Studies and Classics at Stockholm University. She is actively involved in three research groups: Multilingualism and Third Language Acquisition, Romance Linguistics (RomLing), and RomSLA (Romance Languages and Second Language Acquisition).
Her research focuses on Italian linguistics and second language acquisition with emphasis on oral production, morphology, vocabulary and corpus linguistics. Current work examines multilingual language acquisition, processing and cross-linguistic interaction from a psycholinguistic perspective, aiming to understand how multiple languages are stored and processed. Previously, she researched lexical complexity in advanced learners of French and Italian, and acquisition of grammatical gender and number by Swedish adult learners of Italian.
Dr. Gudmundson teaches Italian at all levels, from beginner courses focusing on grammar and written production to advanced courses on linguistic theory and methodology. She supervises student theses and has participated in significant research projects including the "High-level Proficiency in Second Language Use" project (2006-2012) at Stockholm University, where she worked on the sub-project "Aspects of the advanced L2 learner's lexicon" as part of a 25-member research team.
