Anna Gappmaier

Anna Gappmaier serves as a Project Staff Member (Postdoc) at the Institute for Corporate Finance, Department of Corporate Finance within the Business School at Johannes Kepler University Linz since 2024. Previously, she worked as a University Assistant at the same institute from 2019-2023 while completing her doctoral studies in Social and Economic Sciences.

Her educational background includes:

• Master's degree in Finance and Accounting from JKU Linz (2012-2015)
• Bachelor's degree in International Business and Management from University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol (2012), including a year abroad at UC3M Carlos III de Madrid
• Matura at the Higher School for Commercial Professions in Sankt Johann im Pongau

Dr. Gappmaier specializes in sustainable finance with particular expertise in ESG factors and credit risk relationships. Her research examines how environmental, social and governance considerations impact financial markets, particularly in corporate bond markets and IPO pricing mechanisms. She employs quantitative methods to analyze large financial datasets and has developed frameworks for integrating sustainability metrics into traditional risk assessment models.

Her publication portfolio shows a clear progression from real estate private equity research during her master's studies to sophisticated analyses of ESG-credit risk relationships in European corporate bonds, and most recently to CEO characteristics influencing IPO underpricing. These works demonstrate her ability to bridge theoretical finance with practical market applications.

Dr. Gappmaier maintains strong connections between academia and industry, having worked at Raiffeisenlandesbank OÖ in Risk Management focusing on Environmental and Climate Risks from 2019-2024 while simultaneously pursuing her academic career. She has presented her research at numerous international conferences including the World Finance Conference in Norway and the Multinational Finance Society conference in Cyprus.

Her current research agenda focuses on the evolution of ESG factors in insurance industry decision-making, as evidenced by her upcoming presentation at the Institute of Insurance Economics Spring Event in May 2025.
