Anna Egan serves as Head of Department of Finance and Economics within Manchester Metropolitan University's Faculty of Business and Law since March 2022, leading 80 academics and 2,000 students with strategic oversight for education and research impact. She concurrently holds the academic rank of Reader (equivalent to Associate Professor) in Accounting and Finance and contributes externally to the PRME UK & Ireland National Steering Committee.
Her research centers on the evolving relationship between sustainability and finance, driving her leadership of the Business School's Sustainability strategy. Nationally recognized for expertise in student engagement, she co-leads a QAA Collaborative Enhancement Project developing rapid interventions for student disengagement. Supervision of MSc dissertations frequently explores board diversity, ESG reporting, and corporate social responsibility practices.

She teaches Corporate Finance, Management Accounting, and Sustainability across undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs—including ACCA and MBA modules—using action learning and case studies. Her supervision focuses on organizational governance themes while external roles amplify her influence in responsible management education.
