Anna Dreber Almenberg is the Johan Björkman Professor of Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) and currently on sabbatical at the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES), Stockholm University. She holds editorial roles at the Journal of Political Economy Microeconomics and is a Wallenberg Scholar. Her research focuses on meta-science, behavioral economics, and experimental economics, with emphasis on replication studies, predicting replication outcomes, and methodological rigor. She co-founded Lab2, a research hub for meta-science, and the Institute for Replication, collaborating with journals like Nature Human Behaviour.
Education: PhD in Economics from SSE (2004–2009), postdoctoral work at Harvard University (2006–2011). Past roles include Associate Professor (2014–2016) and Assistant Professor (2011–2014) at SSE.
Research interests include hormonal effects on decision-making (e.g., contraceptive pill studies), selective reporting in economics, and large-scale projects like the Many Labs initiative. Her work bridges economics, neuroscience, and social sciences, promoting transparency and reproducibility in science.
Key awards include membership in the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. She has advised on policy, led hormone administration studies (e.g., testosterone), and collaborated with institutions like the University of Zurich’s Center for Reproducible Science.
