Anna Donovan is an Associate Professor in Corporate Law at the University College London (UCL) Faculty of Laws. Her research explores how institutional legal frameworks influence human decision-making in corporate contexts, with a focus on compliance, ethics, and organizational behavior. She holds a PhD and Master of Laws from UCL (2016 and 2011, respectively).
Professor Donovan directs the UCL Centre for Ethics and Law, fostering interdisciplinary research on law, governance, ethics, and regulation. She co-founded UCL Art Futures, an initiative bridging art and technology innovation. Previously, she served as Vice Dean (Innovation) at the Faculty of Laws and contributed to LawtechUK as a panel member. Before academia, she practiced corporate law in New York and London.
Her research interests span corporate governance, business ethics, and blockchain technology's legal implications. Awards include the Peter Birks Prize (runner-up) for her monograph on corporate compliance and multiple teaching accolades from UCL and its Faculty of Laws.
Her publications address blockchain regulation, corporate accountability, and legal frameworks for fintech. She co-edits Pettet, Lowry & Reisberg’s Company Law, a core textbook in corporate law education. Current projects include exploring regulatory approaches for emerging technologies and corporate governance in microstates.
