Anna Davies is Professor of Geography, Environment and Society at Trinity College Dublin, where she directs the Environmental Governance Research Group and is a member of the Royal Irish Academy.
She holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Cambridge and maintains over 100 publications in her field. Her research focuses on environmental governance and sustainability science, with specific expertise in:
- Urban ICT-mediated food sharing initiatives
- Sustainable consumption and production systems
- Social change beyond consumption
- Citizen engagement in sustainability transitions
- Climate policy advisory frameworks
She currently leads the European Research Council-funded SHARECITY project examining urban food sharing sustainability and heads citizen engagement research within the SFI Spoke ENABLE initiative.
Anna received the Irish Research Council’s Irish Researcher of the Year award in 2018 for her scholarly contributions.
Her advisory portfolio includes:
- Independent member of Ireland’s National Economic and Social Council
- Member of Ireland’s National Climate Change Advisory Council
- Board Member of the European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production
- Co-chair of Future Earth’s Knowledge Action Network working group on social change

She also serves as founding Chair of Future Earth Ireland and long-standing Board Member of The Rediscovery Centre in Dublin.
