Anna Dahlgren is a Principal Researcher and Docent at the Karolinska Institutet, affiliated with the Department of Clinical Neuroscience. Her research focuses on Working Hours, Recovery, and Safety in working life, with particular emphasis on fatigue, shift work, sleep, and work-life balance in healthcare and maritime industries.

Research Interests include occupational health, nursing, patient safety, and psychosocial interventions. She investigates how work schedules affect recovery and health, especially in high-stress environments like the COVID-19 pandemic, and develops tools for sustainable working conditions such as the ArturNurse working time evaluation tool.
Grants include funding from the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare and AFA Insurance. Her research group has published extensively on quick returns (<11h between shifts), nurse burnout, and recovery programs like Bädda för Kvalitet.
Collaborations span institutions such as LIME/KI and healthcare organizations. She has advised on work schedule optimization and recovery strategies for nurses and assistant nurses through participatory scheduling models.
