Anna Chrabaszcz is a Researcher in the Department of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, under the advisement of Dr. Julie Fiez. Her work focuses on cognitive and neurophysiological aspects of language processing, particularly in nonnormative populations such as bilinguals, children, and individuals with language impairments. She employs behavioral, eye-tracking, and neuroimaging techniques to investigate lexical, phonetic, and morphosyntactic processing mechanisms.
Her research interests include understanding breakdowns in real-time language comprehension and mechanisms that enable nonnormative populations to overcome such challenges. Key topics include heritage language processing, bilingual acquisition, and the neural underpinnings of reading and speech production. She collaborates on projects involving thalamic and subthalamic nucleus activity during speech, as well as the development of standardized aphasia assessment tools in Russian.
Recent work highlights her focus on lexicality effects in neuroimaging studies, bilingual case assignment in Russian, and the role of articulatory processes in speech motor planning. She has contributed to tools like the Russian Aphasia Test and intraoperative naming tests for neurosurgical mapping.
Anna's publications span neurocognitive mechanisms of reading, bilingual language processing, and the interplay between language and motor systems. Her work addresses both theoretical questions in psycholinguistics and practical applications in clinical neuroscience.
