Associate Professor Anna Boucher is a leading global migration expert at the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on migration policy intersections with public policy, gender diversity, labour market exploitation, and demographic change. She holds six qualifications in political science and law, including a PhD from the London School of Economics, and is an admitted solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW.

Publications: Her landmark books include Gender, Migration and the Global Race for Talent (2016), Crossroads: Immigration Regimes in an Age of Demographic Change (2018 – Stein Rokkan Prize nominee), and Patterns of Exploitation (2023). Recent work analyzes 907 court cases involving migrant worker rights violations.
Awards: Multiple awards and nominations for the Stein Rokkan Prize in Comparative Politics for Crossroads.
Grants & Consultancy: Advises governments globally on migration policy. Current projects include Sydney Policy Lab’s Reforming the Carer Visa (2024) and PROCRAM’s analysis of migrant underpayment (2023).
