Anna Boström

Anna Boström is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Equine and Small Animal Medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Helsinki. She serves as Supervisor for the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Veterinary Medicine and works as a Physiotherapist at the Small Animal Hospital.

Her research focuses on veterinary physiotherapy, canine orthopedics, and complementary and alternative veterinary medicine, with emphasis on agility dogs and musculoskeletal disorders. She investigates canine biomechanics, injury risk factors in sports dogs, and therapeutic applications of electrotherapy and soft tissue mobilization.

Recent publications (2022-2025) demonstrate expertise in canine sports medicine through systematic reviews on complementary therapies and biomechanical analyses of agility performance, addressing practical rehabilitation and injury prevention strategies.

Boström supervises doctoral students and coordinates specialising studies in animal physiotherapy. Her current research projects include:
