Ann Quennerstedt is a Professor of Education at Örebro University's Department of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on children’s human rights in educational contexts, examining how early childhood education and schools foster rights-based learning. She leads the ReCEL research environment and an international network on Children's Human Rights Education funded by the Swedish Research Council (2022-2025).
Her academic journey includes a PhD in Education (2006), Docent title (2010), and full professorship (2015). Key projects include the Education as Greenhouse for Human Rights (2014–2018), evaluating how schools implement UNICEF’s Rights-Based Schools model. She supervises doctoral students in areas like rights education and teacher training, and contributes to national and international policy dialogues.
Quennerstedt’s work bridges theory and practice, analyzing curricula, teacher roles, and children’s agency. Her publications span human rights pedagogy, policy translation, and global-local dynamics in education. She edits the International Journal of Children’s Rights and participates in EU research networks.
