Ann M. Ciasullo

Ann M. Ciasullo is a Professor of English and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Gonzaga University, where she also serves as Core Director and Co-Chair of the Political Science Department. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky, an M.A. from Washington State University, and a B.A. from Gonzaga University, with additional training at Cornell University's School of Criticism and Theory.

Her research explores intersections of gender, culture, and representation through multiple lenses:

• Literary theory and American literature (19th-20th century)
• Feminist theory and women writers
• Popular culture analysis (film, television, media)
• Social justice frameworks in cultural narratives
• Nostalgia studies and historical representation

Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on deconstructing gender norms across media, with recent work examining nostalgia in contemporary streaming content and adolescent representation in film. Earlier scholarship established foundational analyses of lesbian visibility and women-in-prison narratives.

Dr. Ciasullo contributes to public discourse through podcast interviews about writing pedagogy and cultural analysis on Spokane Public Radio. She teaches courses including Literary and Cultural Studies, Women Writers, and American Literature.
