Ann Liljas is an Associate Professor at the Department of Global Public Health, Karolinska Institutet. She leads the Equity and Health Policy (EHP) research group and contributes to teaching in the Master's program in Public Health.
- Education: PhD in Epidemiology (2017, University College London), Master of Public Health (2009, King's College London), Bachelor degrees in Education and Public Health (2008 and 2007, Linköping University)
Her research focuses on social inequalities in health, health and social care services for older adults, health policy, and sustainable development in public health. She specializes in mixed-methods research, including systematic reviews and comparative Nordic studies.
Recent publications highlight her work on infection risks in home healthcare, moral distress among emergency department doctors, transitional care for older adults, and pandemic-related health policy improvements. These studies span public health, gerontology, and health services research, with sub-fields like care coordination, health literacy, and equity-oriented policy making.

She supervises two PhD candidates (Farzana Rahman and Clara Brune) and participates in grants from AFA Försäkring and Swedish Research Council for Health Working Life and Welfare. Her projects include studies on moral distress, health literacy, and post-Covid-19 healthcare improvements for older adults.
