Ann Kristin Augst, M.A., is a Researcher in the Department of Sociology of Science and Technology at TU Dortmund University since October 2023. Previously, she served as a Research Assistant in health-focused sociology at the University of Augsburg (2016–2023) and completed her PhD in Sociology at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (2021). Her work focuses on medical sociology, gender studies, and Science and Technology Studies (STS), particularly examining healthcare systems' heteronormativity and gender diversity. She is affiliated with the SFB 1472 project on Transformations of the Popular.
Her research includes studies on stigma management in menstrual health, LGBTQ+ healthcare inequities, and the digitalization of medical data. She actively engages in interdisciplinary networks like the German Sociological Association’s Medical Sociology section and the Inter_Trans_Science Network. Her recent projects explore patient-generated health data’s impact on doctor-patient dynamics and gender-sensitive healthcare beyond binary norms.
