Ann-Katrin Piper

Ann-Katrin Piper is an Associate Research Fellow at the University of Wollongong's School of Chemistry and Molecular Bioscience within the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health. Her research focuses on cancer biology, molecular oncology, and signaling pathways in gastroesophageal and pancreatic cancers. She investigates biomarkers, drug delivery mechanisms, and cellular repair processes using advanced imaging and molecular techniques.

Her work spans experimental and clinical studies, including circulating tumour cell analysis, ctDNA tracking, and the development of therapeutic targets such as EGFR and PI3K pathways. She collaborates on equipment grants for high-throughput imaging technologies and has contributed to understanding HER2-driven brain metastasis risks and cMet signaling roles in cancer invasiveness.

Key research themes include: subcellular lipid imaging via mass spectrometry, tumour phenotype-prognosis correlations, and translational applications of molecular diagnostics. Piper’s publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches combining biochemistry, cell biology, and clinical oncology.
