Ann-Kathrine Havemose is a Danish Lecturer in the Department of Central, Eastern, and Northern European Studies at the University of British Columbia. She holds a Master of Arts in Comparative Literature and a Bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature, Linguistics, and Celtic Civilization from Aarhus University and University College Cork, respectively.
Her research focuses on the performative use of folktales in Scandinavian children’s literature, particularly examining works like The Three Billy Goats Gruff in Danish early education. She explores intermediality, performativity, and the intersection of folklore with contemporary Scandinavian culture.
Teaching responsibilities include Danish language courses (Elementary to Intermediate levels), Nordic Literary Cultures, and specialized courses on Vikings and Norse Mythology (SCAN 335). Her research interests span folklore studies, literary history, and the critical analysis of children’s literature.
