Dr. Ann Farrell is an Assistant Professor in Child and Youth Studies at Brock University, where she leads research on bullying as a complex social phenomenon. Her work examines interactions between individual, social, environmental, and cultural factors in youth aggression and mental health.
Her primary research investigates developmental trajectories of bullying behavior, personality predictors of aggression, and long-term mental health outcomes. Current projects examine social relationships during school transitions and pandemic impacts on youth loneliness. Dr. Farrell employs advanced statistical methods including longitudinal and structural equation modeling.
She mentors graduate students in projects examining viral disinfection kinetics, plastic photodegradation, and environmental singlet oxygen production. Her research group utilizes specialized equipment including an Edinburgh LP980 laser system for nanosecond-scale photochemical analysis.
