Ann Cooper Albright is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Dance at Oberlin College. She holds a BA in Philosophy from Bryn Mawr College (1981), MFA in Dance from Temple University (1983), and PhD in Performance Studies from New York University (1991). Her work bridges dance practice, cultural theory, and feminist studies, focusing on Contact Improvisation, gendered embodiment, and dance pedagogy.

Research interests include phenomenology of movement, feminist dance practices, and the intersections of dance with gender/sexuality studies. Her projects often involve collaborative writing and performance, such as directing the award-winning Girls in Motion program and co-founding Accelerated Motion, an NEA-supported dance literacy initiative.
Recent publications explore Contact Improvisation's 50-year legacy and Simone Forti's artistic process. She received the 2024 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award (8th OAC honor) and a Guggenheim Fellowship (2019-2020).
