Dr. Ann C. Timmermans is an Associate Teaching Professor and Curator in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in Fredericton. She holds a PhD from Carleton University, where her research focused on igneous petrology and geochemistry. Her academic roles include teaching courses like ESCI1012 and ESCI1017, and curating the Quartermain Earth Science Centre's collections. She has been recognized for her teaching excellence, receiving awards such as the UNB Merit Award (2019) and the Carleton University Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.
Education: BSc (Earth Sciences, University of Waterloo, 1995), MSc (Carleton University), PhD (Carleton University).
Research interests span igneous petrology, volcanology, and geochemistry, with a focus on Cenozoic magmatism in Nevada and California. She emphasizes geoscience education outreach, developing programs like EdGEO workshops and public exhibits. Current projects include collaborations with the NB Department of Energy and Resource Development on Carboniferous volcanism and sedimentary mapping.
